[QUOTE="BigDon, post: 2695635, member: 107254"] So where does/does not HbN figure in to this equation? Any help with barrel/throat wear? Easier cleaning, etc. longer barrel life? Slower to carbon up? Etc…. I appreciate this crew’s thoughts. Being addicted to this forum and the insights gained has totally changed my approach to custom rifle builds. I have a safe full of old school old technology custom rifles. I was so naive! Funny - none of those old school builders ever asked about twist rate, bullet choice…. Just the basics. My how have things have changed! Just so you can tell how hard over I have gotten, I have 2 Sherman builds on Terminus Long actions, 26” fast twists in 25 and 6.5S. Fabulous shooters, way under .5 moa all day - even with Fire forming loads. Built by the great team at LRI. I’ve shot a lot of trick rifles - but these take cake. First game take - opening day this year - Antelope @ 401 yards with a herd of people watching from the Lander One Shot Antelope Hunt. The crowd actually gasped and cheered. I was blown away. That was with the 25S and its fire forming load @ 3,250! (1 shot, of course.). By the way - that ‘Lope only made it about 10 yds from poi. I think this fast twist phenomenon has a lot to do with bullet effectiveness on game. This was with a 140g Berger. Final loads after fire forming - I’m switching to the light Absolutes running over 4K. I can hardly wait! Merry Christmas to you all. I really appreciate being part of this community. Thank you.
