Doesn't Backcountry Hunters and Anglers track these things and offer pathways for people to engage with elected officials? I don't know much about them in truth, hopefully they aren't too controversial or anything, but they seem to be the Unusual Whales of public land issues.

What are your thoughts on using a lighter weight Hammer? I hit 2000fps at 620yds on AB with the 175s, so I feel safe at 500-550yds to achieve reliable expansion with the Bergers. Anything to be gained with faster lighter Hammers, even on elk?

Man I wish this post was here last year. I was looking for a powder to get 250g Hammers to 2500fps from a 24" 1886. I wanted easier shots to 200yd than a 400g slug could give me. 1680 did that easy, but no accuracy for me. Tried I4198 and it worked good, slightly compressed. But I ran out of it...

Coldfinger, the thread I found at the Hammer forum discussed the topic but I don't know what you'd consider solid test results. Basically those posters focused on impact velocity over mass.

I found some threads discussing lighter weight Hammer bullets for elk, so thanks for the rec. I haven't called Hammer yet, but it sounds like something in the 150g range, or even lighter for inside 500yd. So maybe I should stick with 10 twist and maybe drop down to 22" bbl length...

No, I realize people use them, but I've not used TMKs for hunting. I've used bergers in heavier calibers, but not 6mm. Do you get reliable exits with them on deer size animals? Not trying to derail the thread, just wondering. I was thinking of ordering some Hammers to see how they do.
