Why is Rel 26 so great??

I have moved away from Alliant powder because of availability. No doubt it’s good stuff rl16 is a favorite of mine, but it does me no good if I can’t get any of it.

    Deer season practice.

I took my deer rifle out last night for some woodchucks. Ruger m77 Hawkeye stainless 25-06. I’m shooting a 90 grain blitzking at 3450fps out if it. I got three with it 245,254 and 290 yards all first round kills. I mainly use a 22-250 but I like to break out my deer rig once in a while and stay...

    .257 Bob Makeover

Very cool rifle. I would love to own a bob one day.

Quarter bore fans; opinions wanted, what would you do?

Personally I’d do a 257 weatherby. With a 32 inch tube that thing would scream. I’d be trying to send a 95 hht to 4000 fps with it. I think any larger in case capacity it wouldn’t gain enough to be worth the hassle. Just my .02 cents. I’m looking forward to seeing where you go with this.

    Favorite uncommon calibers

I have a bit of it hoarded back thankfully. The 225 is such a sweetheart of a round. Long live the swift, it was doing creedmoor things before the creedmoor was cool.

    Favorite uncommon calibers

225 Winchester along with its big cousin the 220 swift. I know they won’t do what cartridge xxxxx will do but there is something about shooting woodchucks with the classics. Carbon, Kevlar, aluminum and stainless steel are amazing materials but good ol walnut and blued steel definitely have soul.

That seems like extremely bad advice to me. Sounds like a good way to bend a scope tube.

    Rok Stock

That’s what she said lol. I mean I think it will work well for what it’s designed for. I can tell it was purposely built for sight picture retention and comfort shooting prone. For my pride of ownership I like to look at my guns as much as I enjoy using them.

Did you call Talley and they said to just “tighten it on down”?

    220 Swift AI

The lack of bloodshot meat and 1.5 entry and exit holes are very standard for a hammer hunter. You’d be amazed at what those small hammers can do. A friend of mine shot a doe at 300 yards quartering to us almost square. He tucked a 35gr hammer at the crease of the shoulder and body. The entry...

    Rok Stock

Life’s too short to have a rifle with a stock as ugly as that one. When I first saw it I thought it was a practical joke. I get the purpose behind it but it ain’t for me.

    Hammer HHT Bullet Group

I shot two deer with a 90 hht in a 6mm creedmoor. I will say the bloodtrails were notably better than a regular hh. The hht seems to expand quicker and they seem to expand better on low resistance tissue. Just my observation from my two. A friend has been using a 75 hht in a 243 with very good...

    243 or 6mm reminton

I’d take a 6mm remington over a 243 personally because I like the cool factor of it plus I think it’s a better design we cartridge than a 243. Not much difference between a 243,6mm remington and a 6mm creedmoor. I shoot a 6mm creedmoor and it accounted for five deer last season. I liked using...

Hammer bullets coexist with Cup/Lead Core bullet loads

In my 6mm creedmoor i shoot a 87 vmax and 88 hammer hunter and I have shot these two loads side by side and have noticed no difference. Could be my specific instance though. They utilize the same power and charge weight even, they're literally identical loads in every way except the bullet. Try...

243 Weatherby 307 and 88gr Hammer Hunter bullets

I’ve shot 4 deer this year with the 88 hammer hunter out of a 6mm creedmoor and it does a dandy job on them from 30 yards to 460 yards. H4350 would be my powder of choice. I’m getting 3380 fps with 44gr of h4350 in a 28” barrel. Start low and work up with caution. Load data is available on the...
