Ok so took some of the good advice given to me in this thread and went out this morning and shot the last of my virgin brass.
Glad I did as I have a solid seating depth for my Berger's.
Struggling with my ES but hope the 1x fired brass might help ?
These look just the job.
What do you guys use as a ground sheet?
Also do you use a Bivvi bag, waterproof bag put over your sleeping bag while sleeping to keep damp out?
I was very tempted when I drew up a list for my Saum. The option to swap bolt face on the Bighorn swayed it. Just!
Did I miss what caliber your rifle is?
Thanks
Probably not as hard as you think but still not always straight forward.
The hard part for us here in the UK is the firearm license in the first place. Which you apply to the police firearms dep stating why you need a rifle/rifles and where your going to use them. Target shooting you must...
Here mine. I'm still working up a load, trying Eld-x and Elite Hunters both of which are showing to have a potential.

Thanks.
I feel this is good advice given what others are saying about firing my virgin brass before proper testing.
I will use my last 25 cases to find the best seating depth.
Another question has arisen in my mind. If I was to do a new velocity test with formed brass as a ladder at say 400m...
Hey don't worry about derailing.
I have also read the same thing and am prepared to bin the info I have gathered if necessary. Just thought it made sense to plot and gather data incase it is of use.

Hi,
Just started loading for my new 6.5 saum.
I would love to get some feed back on my results. While I can see some patterns im not absolutely sure. Im also not convinced that my RCBS 505 scales are repeating perfectly as i reweighed a couple of charges that I didn't shoot and they a few...
Thanks for sharing. Beautiful video. Almost makes it look easy.
I love working on stocks with basic hand tools. Incredibly satisfying. Gives you a real connection to a rifle. One day I'll do one from scratch.
Welcome.
Great wealth of knowledge and experience on here. With more than most members having a great online attitude. Unlike so many forums.
Regards ring height I would get low and medium and try them. Send back the set that doesn't suit. Best to get it right.

Had it chambered with the .81 FB and then had my gunsmith push the throat out so a 143 Eld-x is on the lands at 2.895. which should help with their longer...
Thanks guys.
Feed lips will definitely be the first thing I'll try.
As the bottom metal is integrated in the chassis adjusting the height isn't easy. If I raise the action through bedding it's likely to look shoddy even if only a couple of millimetres.
