How to know it is Spring in Cody, Wyoming

The coldest we have grilled was about -30 F. We shoveled the deck, put a salmon on the grill and waited forever for it to get done. We had a steady wind of 25 to 30 MPH and the grill would not stay hot. But the beer never got warm. :) The salmon finally did cook.

Just shovel the deck and fire up the grill. It's all good.

Wyoming Sheriff calling it like it is

Last time I was in Colorado Springs was for my son's wedding last summer. I could not believe all of the homeless camps and panhandlers. I like to get down there at least once a year to visit and have dinner at the German restaurant, but might skip this summer.

    Historical long range shooters.

For me it was Billy Dixon. I would never try to duplicate his shot. It's history, which I enjoy reading and studying, but not necessarily repeating. Besides, I don't know a bartender that would loan me his "Big fifty" Sharps. And today I wouldn't get a US medal of Honor for shooting and Indian...

You thought the prices were bad?

There is a big difference between those two words today.

I gave up on mountain goat and bighorn sheep. I still donate on moose every year.

    Northern Lights this Weekend

I was worn out from a long week last night and was asleep early. The best show I have seen was in August after a snowstorm dumped 15 inches on our caribou camp. It was on the south slope of the Atigun pass. A full 360-degree light show with crackling sounds like we were under power lines in the...

    Tick Season!

That's funny, because the buffalo used as a ball bag too. 🤣 I knew a guy years ago that used a buffalo scrotum as a tobacco pouch.

    Tick Season!

We don't have many ticks here in Wyoming, so it's not a problem most of the time. There is a young lady just down the road that I might check for ticks if she asked me to.

What is it with dweebs on YouTube?

I was actually the second. But Mom knew if there was trouble, I had something to do with it. Even if I was out in the barn feeding and the trouble was in the house.

    Thanks a lot OK

I have never hunted out of the state that I live in. Mostly it was due to having six kids, and that kept me strapped for cash and time. But I lived in Alaska and then moved south to Wyoming. Both states have good hunting and plenty of public land. I assure you it was by design.
