Talk to me about Staball HD

I load 58.8 grains of SB HD in my 6.5-06 with 140 H ELDM bullets & CCI 34 primers for velocities averaging 2834 fps, 26 inch barrel, 8 twist. Necked down. turned & trimmed. Norma .270 Win brass. Accuracy .5 - .75 , extreme spreads average 37 fps, 5-7 round batch. I could improve results with...

A Bit Off of the Usual Topics, but….

The Carrington event happened in 1859 & was probably one of the biggest solar flare ever, estimated to be about an X45. Like blasts of soft X rays passing thru a square meter. A X20 would make for "extreme radio blackouts"; the Carrington event was estimated to be X45. This can ionize the upper...

Newer Truck vs. Low Mileage Old Truck

Wifey & I were in the market for a new truck. We have a 14 YO Honda SUV having 115K miles. We don't need a large truck but it would be nice to have a truck for an anticipated move & hauling gear for rodent shoots & high ground clearance. We looked at a Honda Ridgeline - my impression was that it...

    Old Powder Cans

Some time ago I pulled out a green steel can of IMR 4320 having a red price sticker marked at about $3.95 or so. I took it outside & carefully uncrewed the red cap expecting red-brown NO2 fumes and possibly ignition - arms length & oven mits. Nothing evolved & the stuff looked OK, It must have...

    Is this too high?

The scope has a pic rail & this would allow rings & scope to be moved forward or back to adjust for eye relief. Go for mid way, move front ring back & rear ring forward & slide scope to get comfortable eye relief between 3.7 & 5 (only 1.3 inches / 2 for mid way adjust). The extra scope height...

    Is this too high?

Looks like lots of $$ can be harvested by scope ring makers. Some times I plane off top of laminated/wood comb real flat & even, then glue/screw(cut off heads & file flush with top) another piece of nice wood on top, then rasp down to what fits good. Can't do that with my AR.

    Scope recommendations for Prairie Dogs

A nice variable, max 20 or 24, good glass, good adjustments. I have some Vortex 6-24X50 Viper PST's, Sightron 4-20X50 STAC's, & assorted Leupold's 18X & 20X. A 20X or more is nice, you can see bullet holes in paper easily at 200 & get a good view of targets. Current budget restrictions limit...

    Is this too high?

The higher the scope height, scope elevation adjustment to be on target will slightly decrease at longer ranges. Bullet ballistics will be unchanged but configuration of trajectory will be slightly changed like 4-5 inches at 500 yards per 1 inch scope height. Hard to describe but look at...

How did you find us here at LRH.com?

I got kicked out of two other forums for refusing to accept B.S. and then joined LRH to learn stuff, exchange knowledge, research happenings, sell/trade items, extend good wishes & help to others. I have been a member for several years.

    Dark Day

In my head: DJT & King David had common, struggles, similar opposition & enjoyed similar pleasurable pursuits. From day 1 when David selected 5 nice smooth round stones from a stream bed used to slay a 9 plus foot tall genetically engineered humanoid to his multiple decades long reign as...

    Dark Day

DJT is today's King David. Clearly, the choice of those who want to save our country. Stuff like this has happened before. The Philistines failed. If God wants to save our country DJT will be POTUS 47.

    Higher velocities with annealed brass

I have observed this also. Like upon turning necks two or more times, more brass is removed near shoulder than towards front. The little .22-.250 loaded at over 61K psi shows this.
