This is my latest Varmint Rifle - its a Howa 204 HB in a Boyds Prairie Hunter "Pepper" stock, wearing a 3-9x50 Nikon Prostaff. I only just got it recently and shot it for the first time on some of the local bunny population here in Australia.
All shooting was done using Rem Factory 32gn...
Great to hear you are also happy with the Howa Rifles, I'm the same, they are well made, reliable and bloody accurate with good handloads, best money I've ever spent on a firearm.
Yes I won't be buying anything but another Howa after my fantastic results.
Your welcome - most people forget to give the lugs a little bit of grease, makes them work so much better.
I usually apply a small smear each time I go shooting or at least each time I feel it starting to bind slightly, afterall I don't want to gouge the lugs.
So how do you find the Howa's...
Yep I reckon the Howa and CZ rifles are great - I've owned a CZ years ago and it was very accurate, I still own the Howa and its been a fantastic performer, accurate, reliable and for the price I'd say punching well above its weight.gun)
That's very good shooting mate - well done. I was out with a mate shooting foxes he nailed one at 307m (335yds) and I nailed one at 248m (271yds) shooting out of the window of a vehicle. My mate was using a 204cal and I was using the 22.250, both very good cals.
I haven't tried the 40gn...
Great results! That's all you can ask for at the end of the day is results - Howa's certain produce those! I too am very happy with my Howa's performance and can highly recommend them to anyone who is in the market for a good solid reliable rifle that doesn't cost an arm and a leg and still...
I thought I'd better come back and update everyone on the Howa I bought earlier this year.
Well its a bloody cracker of a rifle, very accurate, reliable no fuss at all to hand load for which makes life easy when it comes to that. It loves 55gn and 50gn projectiles (haven't tried any other...
Yep that what I do to TM.
Shoot at different ranges without adjusting POA to allow for drop, I too want to see where the bullets are landing and then take some messurements and work out how many clicks that relates to on my scope, write it down and just stick it to the cheekpiece of the stock...
Howa for me!
With handloads its good for .3" @ 100m and .5" @ 200m (4 shots) - all shooting done off a bipod, no special bullets - just cheap Sierra Super Roos (Sierra Game Kings).
Awesome rifles!gun)
