Split case stuck in 223 sizing die

Pop it out just like a stuck case with the head. There's instructions for one of the commercial kits here, you can DIY it just the same with a bolt, tap, and pile of washer. You'll need a different size tap though. I think I use a 3/8 for 223 cases but wouldn't swear to that...

Land ownership timeline? (BLM to private)

Check something other than Onx. It's often wrong. You can look up the parcel on the county auditor's website and see who owns it along with when any transfers of ownership occurred.

    Velocity Node Help

The big issue is trying to make a decision with a sample size of 1. Tests like this look good because our brains are really really good at picking out patterns, to the point we'll find patterns in noise. There's a lot of math and statistics behind why tests like this don't work, but the easiest...

    Velocity Node Help

How many rounds did you shoot at each charge? ETA- just saw you said 10 shot method so I'm guessing 1 at each charge. I'd load up 3 more ladders, run the test 3 more times, compare the results, and put some thought into how meaningful your results from a 10 shot ladder are.

Removing invector choke, replacing with rem choke…? Is it possible?!

It's possible, and if you're okay with losing a couple inches of barrel length and know what you're doing it might not be a complete waste of money. With turkey chokes running $50-100 only having to buy one of each to pattern both guns will probably save you some money. If you're paying a...

    Leupold Scope Warranty Service

I figured I'd add an update since my scope came back today. This is the start of week week 11 since they received it. They claim they didn't find any defects and sent it back. They did replace the turret caps I couldn't be bothered to put back on before I sent it out the second time. I had no...

    Leupold Scope Warranty Service

Yeah. It does. Unfortunately they make what I have found to be the least bad handgun scope for single shots so I'm stuck with them. The day someone comes out with a LER scope that has decent glass and some option for an exposed turret they're gone. I'm trying to work something out with a...

    Leupold Scope Warranty Service

I sent one in last December. The elevation turret popped off. They said 8 weeks, it took about 12 weeks from when they received it to when they shipped it back. It came back and wouldn't hold zero. Sent it back again, they said 8 weeks, they shipped it back right around 10 weeks after they got...

    NEVER should've done it

I definitely agree it's more fun to get them in close, but on the property I hunt they like to hang out in ag fields where you're lucky to get inside of 100yd. I'd rather kill them at 70 than eat tag soup because I wanted to call them into 30.

    NEVER should've done it

TSS in general is incredible for turkey. I bought some Herters to try this year because they're $30-40 less per box of 5, and they printed some impressive patterns at 70yd. It's too expensive for me to use for waterfowl, but turkeys a low round count game. I'm putting together a 28ga AOW that...

    Lake City Ammo Plant

Vista is in no way, shape, or form connected to LC now. It's a GOCO plant currently operated by Winchester. Vista was never directly involved in its operation, but one of their previous owners was the operator for a while.

    Cartridge poll for curiosity

6.5 Creedmoor is the only one on that list that makes sense for tactical matches like PRS. You could do 308 and shoot tac, but in my opinion it's better to start with a cartridge that makes the game easier. By the time you burn out that barrel you'll know if you want to stick with 6.5 Creed...

I Know This Is LRH... But What Is The Shortest Distance You Have Taken A Live Target?

Somewhere around 3yd. It was my first deer and I was hunting from a stand. I shot down more than out. Even counting second shots on crippled birds in a field I don't think I've ever shot anything else that close.

Interesting article on bear spray vs. bear handgun defense

Most bears are pussycats. Black bears are by far the most common in the US, and are what folks are most likely to encounter. They'd generally prefer to avoid human interaction, so they're easy to spook. Of course there's rare cases where they do become aggressive, which is why there's about as...
